im going to sound like a noob, but here goes,

i have a WRT54G, and since day one, it has just slowed down my upload, without it, i get something like 100kbps upstream, but as soon as my router is hooked up, i get about 5kbps upstream,

my friend said download new firmware, but i dont know what to do from here? it came with a text on how to load it and all, but will just this fix my upload problem? and is this common with this router?

im just so damn tired of having crap for an upload, and ive never met anyone with the same problem ;[

so any and all help would be greatly appreciated

perhaps you should try playing with your MTU settings and such to improve it. With me, if anything, my linksys router has imporved my upload speed by more efficiently routing packects than the crappy microsoft router that was replaced by it (can't mess with the price of free for a MS router...but it sux soooo much)

ill have to try that, to access the mtu settings, do i just go to and then enter the name and password and such?

Hey, I am just searching around all the posts on this forum with people who have slow torrents and I read about your problem.

I wrote a guide on how I fixed my slow torrents. It's a bit long but once you set it up you'll have a fast and rock-steady internet.

    Happy Downloading
