I have a few questions about the WRT54G. I have the version 4. I cannot get this unit to work. This is what I am trying to do. I have a desktop PC with wired internet (Comcast) and I just bought a Dell laptop. I am trying to configure it so that I can network the computers, with the PC wired and the laptop wireless. I am going to transfer files from the PC to the lappy then ditch the PC. When I try and install the router, I cannot get the ethernet light to come on, I have tried all of the different ports. I am disconnecting the desktop and running the software CD on the laptop, and the computer keeps telling me that it's not connected to the router right. I have the ethernet port on the router going to the ethernet port on my laptop. If I connect the modem directly to the laptop, I get internet service. I have tried resetting the modem about 10 times to no avail. When I first tried to configure this, I had the output of the router going to the desktop, but the CD rom in the laptop, I think at that time I had the thernet LED on, but not since. Any advice on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated.
