    Hi All,

    I have a block of 16 public IPs; 218.214.196.224/16

I am using a D-Link DSL-502T router/modem in bridge mode for PPPoE with the WRT54G running HyperWRT 2.0 firmware.

The router's local IP is 192.168.1.1 (mask 255.255.255.0). However, I also want to configure it as 218.214.196.225 (mask 255.255.255.240) and be able to route traffic between those machines on my LAN which have a public IP (eg. nameserver 218.214.196.226, web server 218.214.196.228 etc.) and those which don't (eg. my laptop 192.168.1.20).

I have telnet access to my router, and have been able to ifconfig vlan1's IP address to 218.214.196.225, ping the router from my laptop (192.168.1.20) and have it reply, however, am unable to ping my webserver (218.214.196.228).

I suspect I need to create an entry in iptables, but don't know how or what. I would really appreciate any help anyone is able to offer (or let me know if I am headed in the wrong direction).

    Thanks,
    Trent.
