I,ve been trying to extend my wireless network without success. Many hours spent on the phone with the very helpful support team at Linksys. Finally told I need the WRT54G range expander Version 2 which (apparantly but unable to confirm) has an ethernet port. This is apparantly the only way I can setup a Linksys expander on my sympatico bell speedstream 6300 router wireless network. Pls can you confirm the Version 2 does in fact have an ethernet port and will this fix my problem. Any help would preserve my sanity.
Are you talking about a WRE54G range expander? Go the the FCC site an put in the Q87 prefix. There are pictures of the WRE54Gv2.0 and the description of the product. The discription indicates a RJ-45 jack: https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=983214&fcc_id='Q87-WRE54GV2' https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/forms/blobs/retrieve.cgi?attachment_id=493086&native_or_pdf=pdf
WRE54G Many tks howardp6 Very interesting, now I just have to figure out how buy one. My local store in Canada said they can only provide Version 1. Any idea why the setup disk doesn't support MAC? My struggles with Version 1 had to be performed on my PC. I hope Version 2 will actually work with my MAC Airport aireless system (after I set it up on the PC) Boy...this is a painful business. Thanks again for your help
The set up disk is a waste of time, and so are their script reading tech support people in india. I found this article at Tom's hardware that walks you through a manual set up. http://www.tomsnetworking.com/Sections-article90-page1.php Also make sure that you go to linksys and download the latest firmware for it. Good luck its not the easiest piece of hardware to get going.
