WRT54G router

    hi, i just recieved my WRT54G router wifi i am happy with it :)

    i tested it, i plugged it in in my sleeping-room so i go down stairs and.. both pc`s connect :) but :( on my pc singal strength was low and on pc2 too, someone told me the range indoor was 60 mtr , i use asus wifi cards

    The sgianl strength varies with the number of walls and floors. between the router and the PC and construction materals have an affect. Placing the router at the highes point increases it range. You can use HyperWRT firmware to increase signal strength. Depending on the firmware on the WRT54G the signal strength will vary with firmware; 2.07.01 has the worst signal strength. Wireless 2ghz telephones ans microwaves and othe wireless lans can affect your signal. Try changing the channels. In the US channels 1, 6 and 11 do not overlap. There is a forum at this site on the Hyperwrt firmware. You can down load it at http://www.hyperdrive.be/hyperwrt/. It is the least modified firmware and is based on the latest stock Linksys firmware.

    re i am using Firmware Version: v2.02.7

    hi, i have firmware v2.02.7 is this also a firmware with bad singal strength
    i also have 2 concrete sealings

    If you are more confortable with the latest Linksys firmware, update with i, since it fixed the signal strength issue. The Hyperwrt firmware is based on it and gives you the ability to increase the signal strength. It is recommemded that you reset the setting to the default setting before and fter the firmware flash. Increase the signal strength, but only to the level you get a good signal, since increasing the signal strenght increases the noise levels associated with the signal. In addition, overheatin and decreased component life becomes an issue if you run the router at its highest settings.
