WRT54G Single Antenna - left or right is best?

Has anyone tested the two antenna ports to be sure which is left and which is right?

Is "left" relative to the front (looking at the front lights)?

Looking at the internal pictures of the router, it seems the right (from the front looking to the back) would be the better connector. It is immediate off the circuit board instead of the small jumper antenna cable...

Usenet Posting says that someone testing a WRT54G found the right antenna performs better...

    Anyone here able to confirm?

Ok, i did my own test with netstumbler's DBI graph and a WRT54G v2.2 running HyperWRT 2.1b1.

    1. I set HyperWRT 2.1b1 to use RIGHT for both TX and RX. I also set my signal to 83% (67mw).
    2. Facing the FRONT of the unit looking at the Lights blinking... I disconnected one antenna at a time while watching the graph on netstumbler.

It appears to me that the RIGHT (from front) is indeed what HyperWRT calls the RIGHT.

I also connected and disconnected a RT18 RooTenna (19dBi) and got same results.

So now I know left from right for HyperWRT. Has anyone compared the two ports to see if one works better?
