WRT54G stability issues?

How severe are the stability issues of WRT54G concerning traffic between LAN,WAN and WLAN? I'm considering using the router as endpoints of a 3 km wireless link connected to a 4 Mb per second ADSL line, because of their possibility to be configured as clients and access points, providing QoS, static and dynamic routing, exchangeable antennas, and so forth.

Will there be any possibility of the router of failing in this scenario?the traffic will be typical Internet traffic, some downloading, some two-way streaming (voice over IP), and quite a large amount of connections since we will be several people sharing the link.

If it is likely that the route will not handle well in this scenario, what other routers with similar capabilities and better stability would you suggest?

it sshould handle it just fine, just upgrade your firmware to hyperWRT(more stability and more advanced wireless options) and get some big old antennas and you should be good to go.
