WRT54G: True AP? Bridging WLAN and LAN seems to do NAT??

    Hi all,

I'm trying to setup my WRT54G as an ordinary access point. I'm using the Alchemy 6.0 rc4 firmware.

I've put a dedicated network card in my FreeBSD box to connect the WRT to. The picture is as follows:

BSD box ---LAN--- WRT54G ---WLAN--- laptop

Now, I've disabled all DHCP and routing services on the WRT. The laptop correctly gets an IP address from the DHCP server on the BSD box.

However: when I ping the BSD box from the laptop, tcpdump on the BSD box shows that the ICMP packets are coming from the WRT instead of the laptop! So it seems the WRT is NAT-ing the packets...

Question: is the WRT capable of doing true WLAN to LAN bridging? Do I need other firmware?
