Hi all. Seems like a useful lil' forum here. I bought the WRT54G v. 5 router half a year ago. It is connected to a Siemens Speedstream 4100 ADSL modem. The modem is acting as a bridge between the ISP and router. The modem gets IP etc. set automatically by the ISP. I have tried both setting the router to Automatic-DHCP and Manual IP settings. The router crashes in either setting, as described below.4 The router has been working flawlessly for half a year on a PC connected to it through Ethernet, no crashes. I have also used an Apple OS X laptop's wireless with it a bit, which has also worked fine. Now I am connecting this laptop to it through Ethernet, and as soon as I'm using this second Ethernet port on the router (the first being used by the PC), all hell breaks loose. The router crashes about every 45 min., requiring me to reset it. DHCP was originally turned on on the router, I have now turned this off. The Speedstream modem does not seem to be assigning IP addresses to the computers, only to the router's external IP. The Speedstream's web interface is not available because it is in bridged mode. Since I am now using manual addresses and the problem is still occuring, I do not think it has to do with DHCP. By the way, this problems seems to be similar to this post, http://www.linksysinfo.org/portal/forums/showthread.php?t=46586&highlight=ethernet, also a WRT54G v. 5. Thank you very much for any help or tips (I am pretty annoyed by now)!
