I've tried my best to hunt thro all the forums, so I hope I'm not asking the same over.
I'm new to routing, if I had found this forum before maybe I'd have gone another route or router. I have been experiencing the problems statedHere
Mostly with the internet dropping connection when using ABC Torrent, problems reaching speeds also, File transfer and streaming/system link to my xbox's seem fine (one wireless, one hard wired), although a tad slow (But I have no comparison).
All was fine working on my PCI modem.

    My question is....
Will the new 3.03.9 firmware fix these problems or do I need to use the beta versions, if so which one?

If no-one knows I'll happily test them as I have done nothing but testing before I found this forum, and if it turn to a brick I'll go for another manufacturer.

    Thanks in advance

    Done more hunting

Well i have found that the Beta is only for the v2.2 up, so i'll leave that. I have also found that with DD-WRT #22 prefinal4 you can add a script that helps with torrent, can anyone give me some advice on how to run the script??

    echo 4096 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_max
    echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts
    echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_ignore_bogus_error_responses
    echo 512 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh1
    echo 2048 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh2
    echo 4096 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh3
    echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts

Does anyone know if the official 3.03.9 fixes these problems??

try hyperWRT with a startup script

I was having the same problems with my WRT54G v3 (and similar problem on my old BEFW11S4 for that matter) whenever I ran the Azureus bittorrent client on my wired PC. Upgrading to the latest 4.00.7 beta firmware helped a little but did not eliminate the resets/lockups. The script you posted earlier in this thread is what has solved my problem for me.

You will need a 3rd party firmware that allows you to set startup scripts. I am using the 2.1b1 HyperWRT firmware posted on this site, I haven't tried others so I'm not sure if DD-WRT also has this capability. With HyperWRT, go to the administration tab, and on the management screen you will see a startup button in the startup & firewall scripts section. The only line you will need from the script you posted is the last one:

    echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts

Just paste this into the startup script and save, then reboot. While I was getting resets or lockups every 30-60 minutes before regardless of firmware used, my uptime is now 18+ hours and the router is still very responsive. Hope this helps.

    Thank you

I have updated to the hyperWRT and added the script, I didn't realise it was so easy. All is going well, no dissconections, (although my gateway icon has dissapeared) but my download speed peaks at 70/75. Before i have peaked at 115 on a 1mb line. Is my router throttling the connection? I have tried many torrents the same with all. I have seen the Qos setting, do I need to set torrent priority? If so how?

    Azureus is the key

Well I changed over to Azureus and I'm flying, would still like some info on the best way to set up Qos so I can have speedy torrents but still surf with speed.

I'll try DD-WRT when I have read more on Qos. I had it updated with DD-WRT but had trouble with disconnecting.

Just played with Hyper Qos, set HTTP to High, Torrent To Low. Had connection drop after 3-5 mins. Disabled Qos and been connected to 25 mins and not a drop in sight.

Still need to play about. Got the basic setup right now, just need to do some testing to get it spot on.

    Thought all was good

Been running hyperWRT for over a week now, not a dropped connection in sight. I decided to enable WEP level 1 with a passphrase. I'm getting disconections again, This is while Azureus is running and while surfing.

    Does anyone have any ideas??
