WRT54G V2.2 The part time router?

I'm running a v2.2 WRT54G Router, and it isnt working properly...

It seems as though it is bandwidth limited. I can download OR browse the internet... Not both... If i'm on the internet, non of the other computers in the house will get a connection. And generally its pretty slow... when i use an ethernet cable router i can get upwards of 400kb/s... this router cant even seem to manage 200kb/s...

I restart it by pulling the plug and it works fine for all of five minutes... then it starts to perform as above...

Do i have a hardware faulty router? Can i run any updates on the router?

    Thanks... :)

    Firmware Issue

Well before you come to any solution about your Router's Hardware I would recommend you to check the Current Firmware on your Router. The latest Firmware on your Router needs to be 4.20.7 and make sure that the MTU size is reduced to 1200. and if all these opition are done then get a repacement for your current router as your router comes with standard 3 year warranty

you can download the latest FW on the Router from
    www.linksys.com/download

    More details please.

What do you mean by "download"? P2P application like EMule or BitTorrent by any chance?

Problems same on wired as wireless? More diagnostic details would avoid doing a round of 20-questions here.
