WRT54G v2 connecting to remote VPN

I am trying to connect to a VPN at work through the WRT54G v2 I have at home. I am using a laptop and going through the wireless.

All the pass-throughs on the WRT54Gv2 are enabled.

I can hook up to a netgear and the vpn connects without a problem.

I have used the updated firmware from Linksys and now the Wifi-box 2.02.06 and still can't get it to work.

    Any ideas?

Check what port your vpn software sends and receives through, try forwarding that to your laptops ip in the Port Forward setup in the router.

    WRT54G vpn pass-through

That works sporadically. I am using Windows VPN wiht ports 1723 and 47 forwarded. I would like to be able to use the DHCP and not static client addresses.

I get through maybe once every 20 tries.

    Anymore suggestions?

    Change which MTU

PC MTU or Firewall? I will try putting the PC in the DMZ. It NEVER connects through the firewall not a timeout issue.

"Maximum Transmission Unit. The greatest amount of data or "packet" size that can be transferred in one physical frame on a network"
you could try lowering the value like from 1500 to 1496.. etc

    Mtu

I know what the MTU is. On the router it is set to Auto. Did you mean to change it on the pc? Why would the MTU matter if I can't connect at all? I CAN connect using a Netgear Router but not the Linksys. The VPN never gets past the initial connection try. Where would I look to see if the connection is even being connected? any particualr log etc.? How do I put the PC in the DMZ?
