WRT54G V2 operating error

Hi, I've been using the WRT54G for a while now and for some reason it started to act up on me and I'm not sure what's wrong. Here's the problem:

The router would be working fine, but then after like 12 hours or so all of the computer in my network starts losing the ability to web browse. Programs like MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger still works but web browsing doesn't. I try to Ping the router and it doesn't reply. If I hit the reset button on the router it works again, but only for like 2-3 hours before the problem shows up again. If I turn the router off for about 15 minutes and then turn it back on it works for another 12 hours before the same problem shows up.

I have 2 CAT 5 and 2 CAT 5e cables hooked up to it.
I have WEP on and it takes 4 Keys to log into the wireless network.
I change the password of WEP and the router every month.
The router has the lastest firmware released by linksys on it.
And the router is kept well within the approved environment for operation.

Could anyone please tell me what the problem is so I can search for a solution.
Or if you know the solution please tell me.
    Thank you for your time.

Maybe it's overheating? I don't know, that's pretty strange. You could also try other firmwares to see if they help at all (or maybe re-flashing the Linksys firmware).

Yeah I thought of the overheating too. So I moved it to an open area and even put a fan at it. Not strong wind but enough to cool it. No difference.

And I tried many times with the Firmware.

    maye it is wireles interference

Wireless is affected too. All computers wire or wireless can't web browse, but MSN messenger and stuff like that still work. I can't ping the router but the network still works. I can see the other computers on the network.

    it could be the isp

...but that shouldn't effect pinging the router. That's internal to the network no matter what the ISP does (unless they do some crazy-@##-$### maybe... ;) ).

i should have read more carefully
what firmware do you have. some firmwaes do have a ap watchdog.

i know that dd-wrt has a scheduel rebooter cron build into the firmware

I have the latest firmware release by linksys. I got it from their website. It's version 3.03.6 for this router.

have you tested another router in the place of your current WRT. and what results do you get

I borrowed a relative's netgear router and tried it and it seems to work for a while. But this router was fine until recently that this started to happen. It's hard to tell cause I didn't use the netgear router as long as this. But I'm guessing something is wrong in this router I just don't know what.

and I haven't done anything different recently either.

now you are running linksys firmware am i correct. so call linksys about this. or rma, or return if you are still within the 30 day period

Well it's past the 30 days, and I am waiting for their reply. These routers are have a 3 year warranty right? I remember reading that in the book. Just want to confirm.

thr router has have a 3 year warrenty form linksys. not from the store. so you might have to return it. or if you are over the 30 days by a few days you might just have a chance of returning it to the store. if not you are going to have to rma it.

I talk to a friend of my dad's about why I couldn't ping the IP of my router while the internal network still works. And he says that the router's IP is being occupied by a hacker or someone and when I press reset or turn it off they lose connection and that's why I could ping the router's IP again.

Is this possible? If so, is there a way I can set a firewall or protect from hacking?

home many tiems have you tired pinging it. it cant be a hacker everytime. it has to be something else. go in to the security tab in your touer and disable block annynomus requests. then the router should be pinging able
