I have a brand new out of the box WRT54G which I would like to configure as a hub, but connect wirelessly to another WRT54G about 50 feet away.

Here is the scenario, in a nutshell (I hope)

WRT54G connected to DSL modem in office#1, in office#2 I have 4 computers that are not wireless capable, but I have a brand new WRT54G that I can use as a hub ... thus WRT54G#2 wireless connect to WRT54G#1 connected to DSL modem.

A picture is worth a thousand words and I tried to upload one but it would not allow me to post a 12kb PDF

    Thanks

the easiest solution would be to install dd-wrt or similar and use it in client bridge mode. this will connect to the wrt in office 1 as a client and bridge the two networks together as one.

Ok, I have flashed the dd-wrt firmware and have managed to login and change the settings to what I "thought" they should be, but I am not able to access the internet.

I have evidently missed something ...

Ok .. this is what I did ..

    flash dd-wrt
    reset WRT54G
login to WRT54G and set mode to Client Bridge
Search for available wireless networks and connect
Set IP address of dns server and gateway

    still no glory ..

Thanks for your help so far

Ok .. I found out my problem .... like I have seen so many times before .. it helps if you have the thing configured properly ...

FYI ... for future reference ... the default IP address of the WRT54G (192.168.1.1) acting as a bridge must be changed to something different than the other router on the network ... DOH!!!

You think that would have been an obvious thing, but it took me looking at it several times to see the error.

Thanks for the help folks ...
