    hey all

im new to the forum, found it while tryin to figure out why my newly updated
WRT54G v5 with 1.02.0 flashed keeps dropping my connections.
more speficially when i have my laptop on right beside my desktop.

both on wirless (laptop = xp, desk = vista)

once it drops i cant connect to the router via ip, but have to reset the power on the router, even tho the wlan light is still on

any suggestions would be greately appreciated as i dont know much about routers and tried to do some searches but couldnt find much :frown:

Do you loose connection from both machines? Do you still see the wireless as available? Can you repair the connection and have it come up? Does this happen any other time or only when they are right next to one another?

it seems to happen only when my notebook is on beside my desktop.

both machines lose the connection and i cant ping the router thru command prompt. the wlan light is on on the router, but i cant seem to reach it, it only fixes it self with i reset the power on it =\

Sounds like the machines are interfering with one another then. I bet if you move the laptop and "repaired" the connection it would come back up. Also if you plugged the laptop directly into the the router i bet it would work as well.
