Wrt54g Ver2

Since installing the latest version of firmware my WRT54G Ver 2 will drop the DSL internet connect (Westell 2200 modem) every 5 minutes. Turning the power off and on usually works. Most of the time you can still see the router on a site survey refresh but once, the entire router signal disappeared. Any suggestions? :)

Under PPPoE settings there are two settings.

    1. Connect on Demand : Max Idle Time

    2. Keep Alive : Redial Period

Which one do you have checked?

My WRT54GL is set to Keep Alive : Redial Period 30 sec.

The Redial is set to Keep Alive: Redial Period 30 sec.

I have just reset the MTU to 1400, the Fragmentation and RTS Threshold to 2304, and the Beacon interval to 50. I picked this up in one of the other threads. Let' see if this makes a difference. Any other suggestions out there?

Do you mean MTU? That is the main thing to look at with DSL. Typical values are 1492, 1452, and sometimes 1400. The other settings you mention are for the wireless and shouldn't affect DSL connections.

If it does it that often then visualy check if you are loosing DSL sync or simply dropping the call. The system log might give a clue too.

Yup...guess I'm keyboard challenged. I'll edit the post. I'm still at a loss why upgrading the firmware would cause this problem :)
