I am having a very strange problem with the WAN IP from Earthlink. About 2 weeks ago I tried to send email and recieved a message that the SMTP server did not recognize my IP of 75.x.x.x, which was strange as I always see the WAN IP as 66.x.x.x. I played around and logged off and back on and the IP became 66.x.x.x again, and problem solved. Last night I sent out a few emails around 7:00 no problem. By 8:00 I lost the ability to send again, and the IP was 75.x.x.x. again. Today I got home from work and the IP is 66.x.x.x again. I did not relog the router, it seems to change on it's own.

My question is, could this be the router screwing up the IP? Or, should I fight with Earthlink? The router is a WRT 54G with HyperWRT firmware 2.1b1. Also I use Windows XP on 2 computers and Windows XPpro on a third, all wire connections, and a laptop with Windows ME SOMETIMES connected wirelesssly.

you might want to taje it up with earthlink. becuase the router does not change the ip it self. could it be anyone else. do you have a password on the router. do you have encyption on the router. check on the router mac address. see if that is changing. in the mac address clone.
