WRT54G WAN port

I have been searching through this extensive knowledge base looking for info about how to make use of the WAN (internet) port on my WRT54G v2.2 (s/n prefix CDF7). I did find a reference to the WAN port being on a different VLAN on the WRT54G Wikipedia page..

I would like to connect the WAN port to my SmoothWall pc's 10/100 NIC thus releasing that 4th LAN port. as it seems to me a waste to not be able to make use of the WAN port.

Has any body been here before me??

My current setup: ADSL connected by SmoothWall to a WRT54G LAN port. WRT54G: DHCP disabled, WEP 128 bit, SSID disabled, MAC filtering on. Upgraded the firmware to 4.00.7 and got the Security Button!
