I guess this is done a lot of times before, and i guess there are also howto's somewhere, but i just can not seem to find the correct one. So if someone could help me or point me to a good howto, that would be great.

I have a WRT54G v5 as wireless router in the office. This works great for the main office area, but in the next building the signal becomes poor.
I want to use a WAP54G v2 as Wireless Repeater in the next building to boost the signal.

There is no wired connection to the next building, so it should function as a tru Wireless Repeater. And i just can not seem to get it to work.

I followed a few howto's. And if i read them, it looks so simple.
Just fill in the same wireless network settings as the main router, and fill in the wireless MAC address of the wireless router in the Wireless Repeater field on the AP-mode tab in the WAP54G. but it will just not function

can somebody please give me, or point me to, a step by step instruction?

    thnx in advance!:)

You should be careful, as WEP encryption is nowadays trivial to crack.

Maybe there are newer firmare releases, that will allow Wireless Repeating w/WPA.

Shame you could not get two v2 WRT54Gs. No 3'rd party firmware for the v5, as it's running VxWorks instead of Linux. It would've been so easy to bridge the two routers if both of them were running Tomato or DD-WRT.

i know... i have a "old" WRT54G at home running on Tomato, and we have one old WRT54G at work running DD-wrt.
we have 2 other WRT54G but they are al running on newer firmware :-(
    thats to bad...

I think i will search the internet for old WRT54G's some time...see if they are being sold somewhere (ebay,etc..)
