I have 2 WRT54G routers and would like to setup WDS.

When I setup WDS without encryption, I can get it to work

But, when I turn on encryption the WDS fails and I lose part or my LAN.... :(
I have tried WEP, WPA, WPA2, to no avail
I ahve tried only seting it up on teh primary router..to no avail

I have WRT54G version 2 using SVEASOFT Alchemy firmware
I have WRT54G version 3.1 using bog standard firmware.

I have tried with other firmwares on the secondary router (freeman, talisman, etc...) and still I have no luck

    Anyone have any suggestions????

    I'm outta ideas

How did you get WDS to work

Can you tell us what you did to get WDS to work in the clear?
    What firmware, settings etc.

    Thanks, Gene

I'm using three WRT54Gs with WDS and WPA2 all around on DD-WRT firmware. Works like a champ.

One thing I did notice is that after all three were setup, I had to power down all three, give them a minute or two and then bring them all back up at the same time or else it wouldn't work.

I'd match up the firmware across both routers and try again.

With the latest DD-WRT firmware, my routers aren't as touchy when it comes to synching up after a reboot.

I didn't need to use any other settings besides what was on the WDS and security pages to get it to work.
