I tried to setup my daughter's xbox with a WGA54G. While setting up the connection I discovered that my ver 1.0 WRT54G router is only putting out 48 to 24% signal strength. In the same room!!!! 5 feet away!!!

My oldest son setup a customer with a firmware hack that increased his signal strength dramatically.

Would a customer firmware be right for me? and which one?

If you want hacked firmware, which is closest to the Linksys firmware try hyperwrt. It allows you to increase the power output and has a few other features and fixes. If you want to use the WRT54G as a bridge or repeater or ap client you can use the other firmware available.

Thanks. I just increased her signal strength from 48% to 73% by upgrading her WGA54G adapter firmware with the latest linksys version..1.20

I'll try the firmware you suggested.....

Did you get this from linksys support? Their website only has 1.10 posted.

    Thanks
