WRT54G with BEF11S4 as wireless switch

I can't find a how-to anywhere on the internet on how to do this!
I'm savvy with computers and networking but I can't seem to get this to work in any way.
WRT54G running dd-wrt latest build, BEFW11S4 v2 with latest firmware for that (circa 2004!)

Basically, I run G and B devices. I loathe WEP so I run G-only on my WRT with WPA, and I want to run B using the BEFW11S4. How do I go about setting up the B router to take internet from the WRT? I've tried disabling and leaving DHCP enabled on the B router, using gateway or router mode, using a crossover cable and regular cable hooked to both the WAN port and the LAN ports on the B router... no dice. The B router does not want to grab an IP from the WRT! It simply won't. The weird thing is that the WRT is trying to give the B router an IP - it assigns one and it shows up in my clients list for DHCP on the WRT...

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone have a similar setup? Surely I'm not the only one...
Some day I will get another WRT or find the power adapter for my WAP54G but it would be nice to make use of this piece of hardware!
