WRT54G WPA Problem Fixed

I had been stuggling to get my Linksys WRT54G V5 Router working with WPA Security. Every time I would activate the WPA Secuity my laptop, also on a linksys PCMCIA Wireless Card, would have intermittent dropouts. It would connect, find the router, find the internet, work for a while, then disconnect and repeat. Searching the forums I was able to find a solution that solved my security issues. Here is what I did:

Set up the network normally, add the WPA Security feature, but change the BEACON INTERVAL from the default 100 to 50. For some reason this simple change solved all my issues. I have had the network up and running for 5+ hours and not a single drop. Dont know why the faster rate fixed it but it did.

FYI, I added all the security during the installation of the Linksys Music Bridge. Now that it is all up and running I am quite happy with my setup.

you could also try lowering the MTU

glad that worked for you. Although it will unfortunately increase network overhead lowering your effective bandwidth.

Unfortunatly I am using 1.5K DSL so I won't even notice the loss of bandwith. And over the day's use I can't even tell the difference with exception of the lack of constant "Drops".
