WRT54G2 Router stopped working - now what??

Hello everyone - I know very little about networking, so I purchased the Linksys WRT54G2 router due to its 'ease of installation'. The installation went very well, and the router worked great for a few weeks. Then one day I attempted to log on to the internet using the wired connection to my PC and it wouldn't connect. The wirelessly connected devices were still working fine.

After a few days of this, including numerous attempts to power down the modem, the router and the PC it still wasn't working. I reset the router using the button on the back and now the wireless devices are also not working. I've attempted to access the web-based administration page but the page times out.

I've now unplugged the router and am attempting to access the internet using just my cable modem (Roadrunner) but that isn't connecting either. However, when I plug my laptop into the same cable modem it works fine. This suggests to me it isn't a problem with the modem.

At this point, I am happy to ditch the router (well, not happy, but accepting), I just want to be able to access the internet on my PC using my cable modem. Is there anything I need to uninstall or any setting I need to change to make it work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
