    First post! Yay!!!!

The reason I came here is to get help with my wireless issues with my refurbed wrt54g2. I had a BEFW Wireless B router, but the LAN and wireless kept cutting out. After reading reviews for this, I figured it must be a pretty good replacement. Well... The signal stregnth is much worse than the BEFW. With that one I got 4 or 5 bars in my basement (router is on 2nd story of house). But now in my room, which is the room next to where the router is located, I barely get two bars from the WRT54G2. Is there any way to boost this signal? It is ridiculous! I feel like it was a waste of money. Also, the wireless signal keeps disappearing!!! So I can't even connect to the damn thing.

If it was me, I would first check the firmware and update it if possible.
After that, since it does not have external antennas you can adjust, try to tilt the whole router a bit to aim it up or down. If you need better signal down in a basement try tilting it about 45 degrees and aim it where you want it.
Yeah, it's a kludge, but it may work.
