The first time I turned it on, it worked fine out of the box. I noticed my firmware out of the box was a bit outdated, so I updated the firmware with the one I downloaded from linksys.com. The update went fine, and I got to the admin page, and I changed the router address to 192.168.2.1, which is what the previous router had. Because some IP addresses inside the network is already established with 3-4 static addresses, I decided to change the router address to 192.168.2.1 to make the transition smooth.

But the problem started after that. I can not find my admin page at http://192.168.2.1

Doing ipconfig /all shows the following:

    Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
    Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast
    IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Problem that I can see is that my ip address is not the inside network within the router, but really the actual IP address given from my comcast.net.

Anyway, I can not reset the router, either. Holding the reset button for over a minute and then power off for another minute and plugging it back on doesn't do a thing.

I am really stumped as to how I can fix this stupid router.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you all.

If i had to guess at the moment, it would appear that you have the comcast device plugged into a switchport and not the wan port. However to reset try powering off, holding in the reset button and then powering on releasing the reset button after about 5 seconds. Come to think of it you could also unplug the comcast device and restart the router and see what ip it gives your computer.

Thank you for replying. I have a different color ethernet cable from the cable modem to my router. I thought I might goof up like that, so I changed the color for that cable. As for the resetting, I tried combinations of holding different buttons and still they don't work.

    I really don't get this....

Could the "different color cable" be a crossover cable?
