    hi everyone. first post.

i've got a WRT54GC router here in the office and its real nice (except for the huge power supply). and i was wondering though, if there are QoS options in the rest of the WRT54XX type routers out there coz thats what i really need.

Hi -- I'm a total newbie. Don't know if this answers your question, but I just bought the Linksys WRT54GS (w/SpeedBooster), hardware v.4, specifically so I could improve my laptop's performance as my VoIP phone.

I have my desktop PC and the laptop hard wired into the router. I wanted to have control of QoS on the laptop, hence the purchase. (I replaced the Apple Airport I was using.)

The Linksys router came with firmware v1.05.0 (apparently only one version shy of being current). There is a QoS feature on this Linksys firmware. I am able to prioritize bandwidth on the laptop, even the specific VPN port I use for my company VoIP.

I just got it all hooked up and configured an hour ago, and have made a couple calls. So far I have already noticed an improvement in performance and call quality. I'm not getting the choppy latency; the very problem that I was hoping to correct. But it's only been a few calls, so we'll see over the next few days.

    Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, no, the WRT54GC doesn't have QoS settings.

But, the WRT54G, GL, GS all do.
