I have a WRT54GC which was previously working fine when attached to an ADSL modem/router. I have since changed my ISP to BT Homechoice and now web surfing is extremely slow. Only web surfing seems to be affected - file downloads, p2p and online gaming work fine. But sometimes even www.google.com will take 5-10 seconds to load and hotmail and some other sites are a nightmare. At first I thought it might be a DNS problem but I have tried various DNS servers and they make no difference. Wired and wireless connections are both slow. The main difference between this setup and my old one is that the WRT54GC gets a public IP address through the Homechoice box, whereas before it was getting a private address off my US Robotics modem/router. The ISP won't help me as the Homechoice box works fine with a PC directly connected. In fact even connecting directly to the web interface of the Linksys is very slow and I cant remember if this was always the case. I've messed around with most of the settings to no avail and tried a hardware reset. Does anyone have any ideas or should I just chuck this thing in the bin and buy a new wireless router that I know will work with homechoice?
