When connected by wired (LAN) to my Linksys WRT54GC router,
my connection speed measures (at testmy.net) around 4.2 Mbps,
but if I use the wireless (WLAN) I only get around 2.0 Mbps or less.
*upload speeds are roughly the same for both wired and wireless connections.

Any fixes/patches/ suggestions is much appreciated?

Here is what I tried in Wireless Settings:

Set to Mode: G-only -> no change
    Renamed SSID -> no change
Wireless Channel: tried from 1 to 11 --> no change
Disabled wireless security (no WEP, WPA etc) -> no change
Wireless Mac Filtering: at default -> no change
Set Fragmentation Threshold to 2306, RTS Threshold to 2307 and Beacon Interval to 50 -> no change
(Also, tried them in default settings -> no change)

The rest of the router settings are at default.

    Additional Info:
    Running firmware: v1.05.7
    Using Windows XP Pro SP2
    DSL modem (pppoe): SpeedStream 5200
    Tested Wireless adapters: Dell Wireless 1350, IntelR PRO/Wireless 2200, IntelR PRO/Wireless 2915
    (all with the latest drivers)
Connected computers: 1 Desktop on wired (Lan), 1 Laptop on wireless (WLAN)
Laptop right next to the router (roughly 1 meter away). Windows shows 54Mbps connectivity at Excellent.
