I recently purchased a WRT54GL. I am curious what are good antennas to use with this router. I have installed DDWRT standard and turned on afterburner. I have a laptop with a WPC54GS one floor below and it can only FTP to the wired station at around 1MB/s (10Mbps) occasionally. What is a good tool to diagnose this problem. I was thinking about NetStumbler. Also my cable connection has been acting funny it seems like it gets slower the longer the router is on but I am curious if it has anything to do with that worm that was going around. I usually do the speakeasy test ( http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/ ) with results of about 5800/1800. Today they have been more like 4200/550. I took out one of the splitters to my cable modem but it seems to look OK before and after:

    Downstream Value
    Frequency 717000000 Hz Locked
Signal to Noise Ratio 39 dB
    Power Level 3 dBmV
    Upstream Value
    Channel ID 3
    Frequency 22000000 Hz Ranged
    Power Level 43 dBmV

Also, here are some pics of where I have it setup. Should I move it somewhere else? Would being near monitors/speakers have a negative effect on it?
