WRT54GL Firewall or McAfee or Both?

I just got my WRT54GL and have everything plugged in. I have changed the default password and setup security. When going through the menus I came across the Firewall settings. I currently use McAfee on my desktop computer and most likely will also install it on the soon to arrive laptop.

Do I still need the routers firewall, the computers firewall, or use both?

it personal preferance, i have 5 computers (2 on wifi) on my network and i dont have any firewalls on any of them. i do, howerver, run avg free on them all, and i dont need any anti spyware cos i aint stupid enuff :)

its upto u, but i dont see the point in having something installed that wil eat up my already limited resources, while having something else that is doing the job for me.

im not a fan of mcafee but people not having any spy protection keeps my paychecks rolling in.

Basically if your happy with the protection NAT gives you and other basic firewall features you have stick with it, but if you want to get program specific use the software firewall as well.

    Both, IMHO.

The hardware firewall prevents attack from the outside, the software firewall prevents programs that you don't want talking outbound from doing so.

With new threats like WGA coming from our very operating systems, and SONY's rootkit phone home applications that install when you play one of their CDs, even software we thought we could trust needs firewall protection nowadays.

Being stupid or smart doesn't affect how much spyware you get. I'm constantly surprised at where I get spyware from. And we won't even talk about the kids, LOL! Sometimes I think keeping their computer running is a full time job :sadbye:
