So according to linksys the latest firmware is 4.30.5, yet having just purchased one today it lists its firmware as 4.30.7...any idea what is up with that?

I guess they have not put the latest firmware on the US download site. Although the UK download site has 4.30.7

I am still using the firmware my WRT54GL ver. 1.1 came with 4.30.2

.5 is the US version, .7 is EU version. Basically they are the same, the ┬┐only? difference is that EU version supports 13 channels.

I don't think thats it. I'm in Canada, and this firmware version doesn't have 13 channels available.

Uh... Last time I checked Canada wasn't in EU... I'm a Canadian myself :D

Your Canadian firmware should be identical to the US firmware, with 11 channels.

Edit: Ohh wait a sec nevermind, you're in Canada and HAVE the .7 version... Hmm, that is strange.

The only thing of note is that the drop down channel selector doesn't work in Firefox 2.0, it does work under IE7, everything else works though, including other drop down menus.

I had a problem with that once with a D-Link wireless access point. D-Link released a firmware update to fix the issue of only IE working with it.

Since I have seem to have some vague non-existent firmware, I'm not sure there will be an upgrade for it :(

You can either wait for a newer firmware from Linksys or try a 3rd party firmware on it.

Try DD-WRT, it's the best firmware (14 channels and much more) !
    See the menu here !
