i got pretty bored last night and went shopping. i got a wrt54gl v. 1.1, some heatsinks, fans and an sd card reader.

    i flashed dd-wrt v.24 SP1 std.

then, i mounted the heatsink on the processor with thermal tape which seems to have worked well. if i find any problems i will just use some thermal epoxy. i also stuck a heatsink on the ram

then i needed to power the fan. so using the plug and wires that it came with, i ran the power off the 12v in and glued the female plug to my board. i ran the wires through one of the 2 screw holes leaving one screw out.

now it was time for the fun part. i took the card reader (which was $1.99) apart. i actually like this one due to how simple it is. there was no extra stuff to deal with and i didnt have to order, then wait for a breakout board. then once i took it apart, i stripped it of the usb port which only gets in the way.

i then wired up the card reader per these instructions. i used the holes that the usb port was mounted with, to run my wires though so in case they get tugged on they wont get disconnected.

i then wired it to the board per the same instructions. i then logged into the router and enable mmc. as you can see the orange light came on, my sd was formatted and i am in business.

the only other thing i have done was change the heatsinks on the flash....for no good reason.

i will cut a slot in the housing tonight for the card.

next time: im going to upgrade to 32mb of ram =)[IMG]
