I recently updated my WRT54GL from Tofu 13c to Thibor 14 and I noticed that me internet download speed went from 4meg to 2.7meg. Why?

It did not affect my upload speed at all.

I reset the router to the factory default and cleared NVRAM before and after I did the firmware upgrade and I also did a hard reset.

When I connect my PC directly to my modem (SB5120), I get 8meg download speed. I'm really confused.

Is it save to go back to Tofu 13c without bricking my router?

Should be safe to go back to 13c. If necessary, you can go back via the stock firmware, but it should not be necessary to do that.

Let us know how it turns out, if you decide to go back.

I first went back to 13c with same 2.7 download and then tried stock firmware, same results. I guess I'll settle for 13c and just have to wonder if something has gone bad with the router.

Could having gone to Thibor 14 have done something to the router?

Also, by doing a Clear NVRAM/Factor Default reset, does this get ride of any left over "noise" from previous upgrades?
