I read in forum that it was possible to upgrade a WRT54GL to WRT54GS - but I can find the post anymore.

I have Belkin WIFI card supporting Speedboaster and would like to get higher transfer rate to my file server connected to the Linksys via network cable.

    I am currently running HyperWRT G Thibor15c.

I therefore wonder if anyone could point me to a post for for upgrading a GL to GS - or give me any good advices regarding this matter.

    Thanks.

Uh, you already have. When you log into your router, does the blue title bar not say "Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster"?

By upgrading to HyperWRT + Thibor, or pretty much most any other 3rd party firmware for the 54G/GL models for that matter, you automatically add SpeedBooster capability to your WRT. The 54G/GL models are physically capable of acting as a GS, but Linksys didn't add the SpeedBooster feature into the stock 54G firmware.

Just go to Wireless --> Advanced Wireless Settings and there should be an option to enable SpeedBooster.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't own a 54G. This is just from what I know.

have you enabled frame burst? this will speed up throughput. as long as your using 1-2 wireless clients.

Is this the "Afterburner" option? That's the only thing I see that could be SpeedBooster.
