WRT54GL <> WET54G <> WRT54GL Security?

I have a small network that services 15-25 customers. One of the WRT54GLs connects to a 3.0mbps DSL line. I'm currently running the entire network unsecured, but now that I think I have all the bugs out I'd like to secure it with WPA.

My question is do I have to run WPA on the bridge as well? The bridge has 2.15 firmware, so it should support WPA. What would be the consequences of running the bridge unsecured while running the two WRT54GLs in WPA?

Edit: The network config is DSL <> WRT54GL <> WET54G <> WRT54GL. People can access either WRT54GL, but when they access the last one in the line, they go through the bridge. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.
