i am still rather new in the wlan scene. i try to build up the following wlan at home.

1 router wrv54g for the internet and at the same time accesspoint = ip
1 router router wrt54gs with the dd-wrt firmware (2.3 beta) as a client bridge = ip on lan port pc ip
1 router router wrt54gs with the dd-wrt firmware (2.3 beta) as a client bridge = ip on lan port dreambox ip

dhcp and firewall on the 2 wrt54gs are disabled. no wep or mac-filter.

    i have the following problem:

    I can't ping the dreambox behind the wrt54gs (

can tell me somebody where the fault lies.

    On your client bridge boxes..

    make sure you
    1) set gateway to
    2) set local DNS (
    3) turn off dhcp
    5) set same SSID and channel as

-> You did a settings copy - by hand or by loading a saved config??
-> is your #2 router (client bridge) working??
-> if yes, then try to do a hard reset on #3 and hand enter in the values

i have made it now. at the attitudes i have changed nothing. i have started the WRT54GS merely newly and the connection was suddenly there. i still have the following problem now:

the wrt54gs says goodbye, if i want to copy a film from the hdd in my dreambox on the pc. then only helps to start the wrt54gs newly again.

somebody still has such problems with the DD-WRT firmware 2.3 beta. I would be interested in your experiences.

i have problems to copy bigger files between my dreambox and the pc. it is funny that the upload works faultlessly. at the download the connection always breaks off. i don't know the reason. is it the wrt54gs or the dream, however the ping to the wrt54gs works.

if i try the ping from the wrt54gs (login with telnet) to the dreambox, it is also ok.

i use the dd-wrt software 2.3 beta from 10-6-2005. can somebody help me please. or there is another firmware for the wrt54gs with client bridge mode.

    sorry for my bad english.

Does 10.07.2005 work or is it broken? Which versions work?

Ok but why client bridge ? The dreambox work fine with client router and I can also connect a Xbox. I don't understant the reasons of client bridge. To have the same network ? It's so difficult to "manage" 2 networks ?

    Really I don't understand :(

most of those systems such as xbox/ps2 etc like to be on the same subnet as the router i believe. has to do if subnet broadcasts, things such as network neighbourhood will also not work on different subnets meaning u have to use the "\ip addy of machine\\share name" to map drives way of getting it to work, well unless u have a WINS server on your network??

i have a WRV54G for the internet. this works as accesspoint. if i build up my network in the client routed mode, can either only the WRT54GS access the internet at the pc or the WRT54GS at the dreambox. in no case both. therefore i take the client bridge mode.

the firmware of 10-7-2005 also doesn't work. the same problem.

    bug in dd-wrt firmware ???

i have found the fault now. with the original firmware 4.50.6 of linksys this fault should have been eliminated. see changelog

    firmware 4.50.6
    - adds SecureEasySetup push badge support
    - resolves generous file transfer issues
    - resolves issue with enabling TKIP anus enabling WEP
    - updated QoS feature programs
    - resolves issues with multiple Access Restrictions policies
    - resolves issue where multicast breaks when MAC filter statuses of CHANGE --

    see also here

after this fault in the dd-wrt firmware of 10/10/2005 is still existing, it would be useful also to repair this fault in the dd-wrt firmware.
