i have two WRT54GS's.. a v3 and a v5.. and would like to, if possible, set either one up as a wireless repeater. i am unfortunately not able to hardwire them together to use one as a repeater that way.

i've searched and searched and havn't been able to find a solid answer on this. any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can if you run 3rd party firmware. The problem is, that V5 won't run 3rd party firmware because it's not running Linux. You need to get another V4 or prior and then load up Hyperwrt(Thibor's build) or DD-WRT and run WDS.

ok, well i also have a v3 with stock firmware... do they both need to v4 or earlier, or just one? which would you recommend HyperWRT or DD-WRT? and what is WDS? thanks for your help.
