WRT54GS Constant Failure

    Hey all,

I just bought a WRT54GS (S/N: CGN9) and setting up was... a major pain in the behind to put it gently. Eventually though, I decided to upgrade to the latest firmware (didn't help) but got the thing working anyways.

The problem is this... after a few hours, the router completely stops talking to my cable modem. The network just hangs. I have to go over to the router, unplug the power, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in, wait 30, and then reconnect to the network. It's pretty darn annoying.

I wasn't sure how to do a forum search for this so if it's been covered already, I apologize. But if not... does anyone have any reccomendations? I was thinking of installing custom firmware but it looks like my model isn't covered.

    Thanks, HolyJaw.

So, you have a WRT54GS v6.0 (according to wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrt54gs#WRT54GS ). So, no 3rd party firmware possible so far it seems.

What is your usage? Browsing/email or gaming/bittorrent?
The connection tracking table may be the problem...

My usage is browsing gaming and bittorrent... So yeah a little of all three. And it happens intermittently among them all... Connection tracking?

Also, should I upgrade to 3rd party FW?

If I had that router I would have a long time ago.
