I've got a WRT54GS that likes to disconnect every once in a while. I'll get the ole "network cable unplugged" bubble once in a while, then it will reconnect. I'm starting to think 3rd party firmware might fix it. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem. Are you using P2P?

I have seen similar problem using ShareAza. The P2P software is still active and using the broadband connection but to other clients it looks dead. Stopping the P2P software solved the problem and the clients could use the internet again. Restarting the P2P and it runs problem-free for the next 3 to 4 days.

I have tried different setting but no good result. Which 3rd party software are you using?

I'm not using any third party firmware...yet. Mine likes to disconnect whenever it wants, whether or not P2P is running or not. I need to find someone who knows this better than me to configure this thing

just for clarification - this is a wired computer that you are having disconnect issues with?

Is the cable a homemade one? Try a different cable even if it isn't, a different port on the router, and try resetting the router to its defaults.

Wired computer, store bought cat 5 cable. I've tried new ports and reset to factory settings numerous times.
