I have similiar hardware versions of the Linksys WRT54GS router here.
Here are the details of the different hardware versions as far as I know:

    WRT54GS v1:
    32MB RAM, max. 3079 connections, 22MBit/s throughput, 200MHz Proz.

    WRT54GS v1.1:
    32MB RAM, max. 3079 connections, 24MBit/s throughput, 216MHz Proz.

    WRT54GS v2.0:
    32MB RAM, max. 3079 connections, 24MBit/s throughput, 216MHz Proz.

    WRT54GS v2.1:
    32MB RAM, max. 3079 connections, 24MBit/s throughput, 216MHz Proz.

    WRT54GS v3.0:
    32MB RAM, max. 3079 connections, 32MBit/s throughput, 200MHz Proz.

    WRT54GS v4.0:
    16MB RAM, max. 1543 connections, 32MBit/s throughput, 200MHz Proz.

Regarding the list above hardware v3.0 should be the best one, but maybe there're a lot of further arguements I'm not aware of.

Please give a comment / correction / completion to the list above and your point of view which hardware release should be the best and why (e.g. chipset power/design etc.)

    Thanks :)
