Ok I think I am almost there I was chatting up with the guys from openwrt they told me to install gpio and than run "gpio disable 3" and that will turn the amber light on "gpio enable 3" will turn it off.

I try it but I am unable to install gpio..
    Any ideas out there?

    jagboy Network Guru Member

    do ./gpio disable 2

    give you the white light

  25. XCOM7

    XCOM7 Network Guru Member

    No prob sure.
If they want to see white instead of amber do ./gpio disable 2
Now if the router gets restarted than you have to do it all over again since is in /tmp
    Startup script.

    cd /tmp
    wget http://openwrt.org/downloads/gpio.tar.gz
    tar -xzf gpio.tar.gz
    /.gpio disable 3

    Edit:
ic you figure white out ;)
If they want white instead of amber in the startup script just change the value.

Right now I am working on making the button behind the logo the turn on and off for the light.

  31. u3gyxap

    u3gyxap Network Guru Member

This could be useful - you can make it turn on if the CPU usage jumps above 90% for an example.
    Scripting guys, scripting.
If event occurs- amber light. If event has accured, but already passed away - white light... and so on. Whatever you feel like.
Now you need to make it blink with different speed :)

    i've tried the following
    Code:
    cd /tmp
    wget http://at-root.net/gpio.tar.gz
    tar -xzf gpio.tar.gz
    /.gpio disable 3

    via Telnet.

it wget's the package without problems. when i "ls" after downloading the package shows in the directory listing, but when i try to unpack it i get the error message: "tar: Invalid tar magic".

am i missing something here or did i do something wrong?

anything new XCOM7. if you want i can help. i asked som of my hardcore linux firends to see if they could write a script to turn the led on when it hits 90% cpu usage.

  53. XCOM7

    Thanks jagboy for the help.
The problem is not the scrip the problem is that we need a ipkg that will run and poll the cpu usage and then the script that will run gpio. I am working with cliffstah who is coding the small app in C to be compiled for mips.Once he gets the CPU poll ipkg than I will come in with the script and make these a full ipkg :)

cool. the only thing is that this might be hard for some people to install on their router. is there any talkes with brainslyer to put this in dd-wrt?

  55. XCOM7

    XCOM7 Network Guru Member

It wont be hard at all
    ipkg install proces.tar
    :)
But sure maybe we can talk to Brain Slayer to add it up in to the firmware.

just tried this but unfortunately it doesn't work...
no errors so i presume i'm doing te right thing (cd /tmp, wget, tar, gpio)

it seems my 54gs v1.0 (#CGN10...) doesn/t have these lights...
    too bad :(

edit: does anyone have an idea how to connect/mount a led behind the logo myself? i've got some spare blue led's

  58. jagboy

    jagboy Network Guru Member

i guess it is possibleto do. there are many places on the board that conducts electricity. like under the power supply. and the little pins under the real leds.

i think i might go own to radioshack and try this. get some leds to hook up to the pcb board.
