    Hi,
i have a spare WRT54gs that i wish to use a wireless reciever for my xbox (saves me buying the silly overpriced microsoft one)....after i bit of google-ing, i was directed here and was told that there is a firmware that can allow me to do this. i am relatively competant user and can flash stuff etc....i had a look in the downloads section and could not tell which firmware would allow me to do this and how to do it.

any help would be much appreciated :)

    Hi Sam

You can use 3rd party firmware called DD-WRT.
If you'll provide me exact version of your WRT54GS i can hive you direct link to download of the firmware. As diferent versions of your router have diferent amount of flash memory, you have to choose correct version of dd-wrt.
Or you can DIY - have a look at this link.
Just type in wrt54gs and choose version of your router.

What you want is called client mode - have a look at this tutorial.

I hope it will help you
