WRT54GS signal strength & status constantly drop

We're using 3 laptops wirelessly with a WRT54GS. One of the laptops only has a "B" only wireless card, so I've set the WRT54GS for "B" only.

Our signal strength constantly drops to "Very Low" every 1/2 hour to the point where the connection attempts to "acquire the network signal" again. We find ourselves constantly repairing the connection. Sometimes a repair doesn't even work and we have to reset the WRT54GS by unplugging the power to it.

What can improve on this situation? I'm considering getting external wireless cards or a range expander, but I don't know if those will really solve the problem. Please help.

Have you also set all the clients to B only?
Not sure about this next suggestion, but maybe you also want to try reducing the power levels at which the clients transmit! (sometimes less is more!).

I'm not sure what a "client" is. Do you mean the individual laptops? Two have B/G cards. How do I set them to B only?

Also, how would I reduce the power level of the transmissions? Thanks for your help.

I just managed to switch my client to B only - I hope it works.
What power setting would you recommend?

    Getting the same issue

I get pretty much the same issue with my WRT54G. It constantly drops signal strength and we have to re-establish the connection. We have upgrade firm ware to verion 3, and set the device to G only, but it still drops the connection. No issues with the connection when we use ethernet from the ports, just when we run wireless. Any suggestions?
