Does anyone know what the difference is between the two, there is firmware for both on the US website even though it does look the same?

    Regards,

I did not found the two versions at the US website. Please could you give a link?

    Thanks
    Tom

    EDIT:
OK, with a little bit more search I have found the download site.

I noticed there were 2 versions when i went to register my new WRT54GS. How can you tell which version you have. I'd be willing to take mine apart and photograph it except for braking the seal will void the warranty.

The version in on the underside of the router, by the model number.

I understand the only difference between them is the chip used for the switch/LAN an ADM6996 in the v1.0 vs. some Broadcom chip in the v1.1 Other than that the two versions seem to be identical though the firmware needs to have the right drivers for the right chip.

Btw, if I am looking to get a WRT54GS, I have 2 questions:

    1. Is it worth looking for a version 1.1 specifically? Is the chip in the v1.1 better?

    2. How can one identify the v1.1 from the unopened box? Is there a specific serial number prefix for the v1.1's?

Any word on which chip is "better" the ADM or the new Broadcom chip? Thanks.
