flashed to DD-WRT 22 a few months ago, all uptime since then. This morning, no WAN. No DHCP WAN address either. Called the cable company, they could see the modem but not the router. they reset the modem, same thing. I reset the modem and router a couple times, no help. connected computer directly to modem, OK, gets IP, no sweat. tried router again, no go. release/renew on the status page gets nothing, all zeros.

changed it to static, set it up with the info from the computer, saved, OK. Still no WAN. reset modem and router a couple more times, no good. connected computer direct again, release/renew, OK. Got the same IP I had before, same as I configged the router with.

installed a local copy of Zone Alarm I still had. back on the net with direct connection. don't like seeing my computer with an internet routable address, long time since seeing that.

Any bright ideas? What about reflashing it?

It was working last night when I went to bed. should mention, the wireless is OK too, it's just liike the WAN port is dead although I can see the WAN connectivity light come on if I plug the modem cable into it. So, seems it has physical connection, just no IP connectivity.

Probably just bad hardware. Although check if jiggling the ethernet connector helps any, might just be a questionable connector.

I've had ethernet cards work for years and then just go phhhfttt, dead. Solid-state electronic components don't make clunk noises like automobiles but they do fail.
