WRT54GS v4: How to check the amount of memory?

    Is there a way to check the amount of memory with the standard Linksys firmware?

    I've seen conflicting information about the amount of memory in v4, and would like to confirm for myself.

    BTW, I called Linksys Tech Support to ask the same question, the person I talked to said the WRT54GS doesn't have memory... :)

    Thanks.

    I suppose you could always open it up and check out the model string on the RAM chip. Be warned that you have to break the warranty sticker in order to do so.

    Which is the RAM chip? Where should I look to find the meaning of the model string?

    I was hoping I could get access to the console...

    Thanks.

    It got really funny after that...

    The tech then told me the reason the router doesn't have memory is because it uses the memory in my computer. I tried to explain why that isn't the case. I was put on hold. The tech came back and said my question was too technical for tech support... WTF? :)

    I think I found your answer, but I'm not sure since I don't run the stock firmware anymore. I think this works, I just can't check.

    type this into a browser: 192.168.1.1/SysInfo.htm

    or maybe this: 192.168.1.1/SysInfo1.htm

    if you don't have your router on 192.168.1.1 then just substitute what you have

    That's it! Thanks. Actually both URLs work, returning different info on each page. My v4 appears to have the "lower" memory... :(

    totalram=14815232, freeram=5701632, bufferram=1490944;
