WRT54GS v4 + Thibor15c startup & firewall scripts?

I had a WRT54G which I used to have an older version of hyperwrt on, but it died unexpectedly.

i had to use a startup script on it to stop torrents killing the router (there's a few threads on here about it),

I then got a WRT54GX v2 and the less said about that the better. it's dead now too, due to a box falling on it when moving house.

anyway, long story (relatively) short, i now have a WRT54GS v4 and the first thing i did was come looking for hyperwrt to avoid the problems i knew i would have.

lo and behold i found Thibor15c and am so far very happy with it, and as seems to have happened a lot recently, i will be making my appreciation known in the form of a donation very soon (when cash is available) and i'd encourage anyone else who thinks that thibor has done a good job to do the same. i'm sure he doesn't mind if it's only a little bit, whatever you can afford, just to show him that you think he's done a good job, ad lets face it who could say otherwise?. :) EDIT: scratch that, to hell with it, $10 (or thereabouts, *&%$ currency exchange!) donated to thibor's continued efforts to improve the linksys world for all of us.

    i've gone off on a tangent again haven't I!

my question is this, I see the startup and firewall scripts sections in the web interface for the router, so i'm wondering if i need to put anything in them or not?

has thibor included the bits that fixed the timesouts in the previous (and stock) firmwares and included it as part of the deal, or do i still need to find the startup script and put it in?

also, is there anywhere that will give me detailed info on what all these new settings do and which is best for me?

thanks a million, and congrats to thibor again for a hard job very well done. :D

You don't need to put anything in there unless you want something to run at startup (i.e. a script).

Best to leave this for Thibor to answer.

BTW, http://www.thibor.co.uk should give you a good start for info/answers.

the essential values(max and timeout interval) have been changed by default, and also have the ability to be changed in Management.asp
that is all that is required to allow the router to run p2p apps 24/7, as long as you don't go stupid with it, it is a $50 device after all, and not an enterprise router.
