I'm trying to use my WRT54GS v4 (with tomato firmware) in WDS mode to extend my wireless range. Unfortunately, my other router is a WRT54G v8 (with original firmware), which is not compatible with tomato firmware. Is there a way to allow my tomato router to extend the range of my other stock firmware router? I can use DD-WRT (as it is compatible my WRT54G v8), but tomato is much easier to work with.

    Thanks! :)

Can you not use it as a wired AP? Does it have that facility? As an AP it doesn't matter what firmware it runs as it isn't really doing much.

I apologize for the crude drawing, but this is how I have it set up. I want the WRT54GS (tomato) to extend the wireless range of the WRT54G (stock, connected to cable modem).

Oh, I understand now. You seem to have two resource-limited routers :(

The best way is to link the main router to the AP with CAT5e cable, and you will get the fastest speed and least amount of trouble. I rather doubt that you will get WDS working successfully.
