Just installed a WRT54GS v5 tonight and am receiving slow throughput on my laptop. When directly connect to the router through an Ethernet cable everything is fine. But when connecting via 802.11G, it's about 80% slower. I've searched here but haven't found anything relevant... any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Steph

Thanks - I'll did that after I installed that router and still have problems. I'm at ver 1.50.5.

I did notice that if I change the wireless network mode from "Mixed" to "G-Only" that my connection speeds greatly improve. That's odd, at least to me, as my laptop always shows that it's connected at 54Mbps when the router is in Mixed or G-Only mode. But it does seem to address the issue, and that's what I was after. Thanks again for your help.

what speed are you expecting from the wireless side of the router?

max throughput of the 54g is approx 22-24Mbps. not what is said on the box....

Try enabling Frame burst. this should make throuput somewhat faster.
